What to Expect the Day of Your St. Mary's Surgery
Same Day Surgery
We recommend that you have a family member or friend present before, during and after surgery. You and your family or guest will arrive to our outpatient Same Day Surgery department where experienced, compassionate nursing staff will show you to a room. You will have your IV started, medications given and any ordered tests performed. The staff will make you as comfortable as possible and answer any questions you may have.
Our team is comprised of skilled surgeons and anesthesiologists, experienced registered nurses, certified surgical technologists and patient care technicians that work together to make sure your surgery goes smoothly. You may receive a visit from your anesthesiologist prior to being taken to surgery so that final questions may be asked/answered.
Post Anesthesia Recovery
Once your surgery is complete you will be moved to the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). Our experienced registered nurses will make every effort to meet all of your needs and prepare you to go home or move to our inpatient unit.
Family Waiting Area
St. Mary's provides a comfortable waiting room close to the surgery department for visitors waiting for loved ones who are undergoing a surgical procedure. The area offers private rooms where your surgeon can talk to you and your family after surgery is over. Waiting room staff will be available to assist your family and visitors while you are in your procedure.
Our registered nurses and patient care technicians on the inpatient units are skilled and experienced in caring for you. Our goal is to provide you with the highest quality of services in a professional, compassionate and courteous manner.
