Maternal Transport

St. Mary’s Maternal-Fetal Transport Team specializes in caring for women with high-risk pregnancies and/or pregnant women who require the advanced resources provided at St. Mary’s.

St. Mary’s Maternal-Fetal Transport Team consists of High-Risk OB nurses, Neonatal Respiratory Therapists, Paramedics and EMTs who have the expertise to provide proficient care for any emergency that may arise during transport. 

St. Mary’s Maternal Transport program offers:

  • One call access to a Maternal-Fetal Medicine physician by calling 812.485.8888
  • Maternal-Fetal Transport Team available 24/7
  • Ground ambulance transport or St. Mary’s LifeFlight for air transport
  • Transport personnel are certified in BLS, ACLS, NRP and S.T.A.B.L.E.
  • Medical care is directed by a Maternal-Fetal Medicine Physician during transport

Maternal-Fetal Transport Checklist

  • Consent for Admission to Hospital, Medical Treatment, Release of Information & Responsibility form
  • Authorization To Release Protected Health Information form
  • Photocopy of patient’s complete medical record
  • Photocopy of patient’s prenatal, antepartum and Labor and Delivery records (including labs)
  • Collect Group B Strep prior start of any antibiotics
  • Copies of ultrasounds or other radiographic testing

Neonatal Transport

St. Mary’s Neonatal Transport Team has been safely transporting sick and premature babies since 1978. Our Neonatal Transport Team is equipped with state-of-the-art transport isolettes and specialized equipment necessary to provide the best care for the sickest and tiniest babies. Our experienced Neonatal Transport Team consists of Neonatal Nurses, Neonatal Respiratory Therapists, Paramedics and EMTs who have undergone extensive training to ensure the highest quality of care is provided to the most fragile of patients.

St. Mary’s Neonatal Transport program offers:

  • One call access to a Neonatologist by calling 812.485.8888
  • Neonatal transport team available 24/7
  • Ground ambulance transport
  • Transport personnel all hold National Certifications and are certified in BLS, NRP, S.T.A.B.L.E. and Cardiac S.T.A.B.L.E.
  • Medical care is directed by a Neonatologist during transport
  • Neonatal Transport Team is available to attend high-risk deliveries upon request

Pediatric Transport

St. Mary’s Pediatric Transport team consists of Pediatric Nurses, Pediatric Respiratory Therapists, Paramedics and EMTs who have been specially trained to transport ill children.

St. Mary’s Pediatric Transport program offers:

  • One call access to a Pediatric Intensivist or Pediatric Hospitalist depending on the patient’s condition by calling 812.485.8888
  • Pediatric Transport Team available 24/7
  • Ground ambulance transport or St. Mary’s LifeFlight for air transport
  • Transport personnel are certified in BLS and PALS
  • Medical care is directed by a Pediatric Intensivist during transport
