Inpatient Team Approach
St. Mary's uses a team approach for each patient, bringing together physicians, physical, occupational, speech and respiratory therapists, nurses, psychologists, nutritionists, chaplains and case managers.
Assistive technology and adaptive equipment may be utilized to maximize functional independence.
A case manager helps guide the entire program; however the most important members of the team are you and your family members.
All referred patients are evaluated prior to admission to determine if they require the close medical supervision and the intensity of the therapy program that is provided in an inpatient setting.
Your care team designs a treatment plan to improve the following based on individual needs:
- Communication skills
- Self-care including bowel and bladder management
- Home management
- Strength and endurance
- Thinking and memory skills
- Balance and safety
- General health
We develop a personalized plan, drawing on the skills of our entire team and all the resources at our disposal. Our primary goal is for you to return to functioning as independently as possible so you can return home.
