St. Mary’s Neonatal Transport Team has specialized in the transport of critically ill babies for more than 30 years. The transport team is comprised of experienced neonatal RN’s and RT’s who have received specialized training in order to provide safe, exceptional care during transport. The transport team takes all the necessary equipment that is needed to maintain the same level of care as if in the neonatal intensive care unit. This includes a special transport incubator, ventilator, inhaled nitric oxide, medications and other equipment to treat our tiny patients.

The transport team maintains communication with the neonatologist at St. Mary’s throughout the transport. Transport Telemedicine is used to allow the neonatologist to view the baby and/or diagnostic studies as needed.

The transport team will attend high-risk deliveries at your facility to assist with resuscitation and stabilization of the newborn. The team is able to perform endotracheal intubation, surfactant administration, peripheral IV’s, umbilical venous line insertion, needle decompression, arterial puncture and administration of emergency medication.  All transport team members are NRP and STABLE certified.

Web cam are available within St. Mary's NICU so parents are able to view their little ones once at St. Mary’s, and there is a Ronald McDonald House located adjacent to St. Mary’s campus for those families who qualify.
