Visiting Hours for Pediatric Intensive Care Unit

Visiting Hours for Pediatric Intensive Care Unit

There are no set visiting hours for parents of patients in the PICU. However, because this is an intensive care unit we must restrict any additional visitors to members of the child's immediate family over the age of 12.  Parents are invited to stay with their child at all times.

Visitors must be accompanied by at least one parent and we ask that visitors are limited to two at a time.  During visiting hours, visitors are invited to use the Family Lounge.

Appropriateness of visits by siblings must be determined in consultation with the primary nurse and must be pre-arranged and supervised.  Please remember that, as in the Pediatric Unit, a parent must be present whenever your child has visitors, and that patient information will only be given to parents.

No visitation is allowed during staff shift reports.

There may be times when you see a "NO VISITORS" sign posted outside the unit door. This sign is posted when a child needs extra-special attention because of an emergency.   If your child needs special attention, you will be notified as soon as possible.

We will always keep you informed of changes in your child's condition.
