St. Mary's Pastoral Care - Helping Experience God's Compassion

The Pastoral Care Department's Chaplains provide patients, families, employees and physicians the experience of God's compassion, love and healing presence. We believe each person is created in God's image, is loved by God unconditionally and has the basic right to dignity and respect in life and in death.

The Chaplains, as members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team, identify pastoral and spiritual needs, and develop and implement a plan of care to address these needs and resolve spiritual distress.  The chaplains also communicate with other members of the healthcare team in developing and implementing a pastoral plan of care.

Mass is celebrated in the Chapel Monday through Friday at 11:30 a.m. and on Sunday at 9 a.m.

Chaplains are available 24 hours, seven days a week.  Routine referrals are addressed during normal office hours within 24 hours.  Chaplains respond to emergency and urgent requests at any hour of the day. 

Chaplains may be contacted with emergency requests in several ways including:

• Call the Triage Pager Nurse at (812) 429-4065 and input your number code.  A Chaplain will call you back.
• Contact the hospital operator at (812) 485-4000
• Dial (812) 485-7900 and ask for the Chaplain or
• Dial (812) 485-7900, ask for "Pager Directory" and then ask for "Chaplain"
