LifeFlight is proud to be incident and accident free since it began offering services in 1982. In 1999, LifeFlight was the first Indiana air medical program to achieve the prestigious CAMTS accreditation.
LifeFlight crew members administer critical care in the air and are trained in BCLS, ACLS, PALS, and trauma management.
The LifeFlight helicopter is a Bell 407 and is based at St. Mary's Medical Center. Within minutes of receiving your call for help, LifeFlight can be airborne and en route to you. The helicopter and designated trained flight crew are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Four highly-skilled, dedicated full time pilots offer over 100 years experience. A full time mechanic ensures the aircraft is always in top condition.
The highly skilled Medical Crew holds multiple certifications and a mastery of lifesaving skills and works directly with St. Mary's Emergency Room physicians on a daily basis to care for critically injured patients. Only extreme weather conditions, maintenance, or commitment to a prior call will prevent immediate response to a request.
LifeFlight can greatly reduce the patient's out-of-hospital time when compared to ground transport. It flies the most direct route within a 90 mile radius, reaching into the entire tri-state. LifeFlight holds an EMS air ambulance license in the states of Indiana, Illinois, and Kentucky. It is also a member of the Association of Air Medical Services.
