Quality Core Measures
As part of our overall quality improvement efforts, St. Mary's participates in a quality initiative known as the Core Measures. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) have a process, which measures important components of delivering and evaluating high quality care.
These quality initiatives aim to empower providers and consumers by providing quantitative information on specific clinical measures.
These measures are reported monthly and analyzed by our Cardiologists, cardiac nursing and other professional staff to identify improvement initiatives bases on our compliance to these measures.
Cardiac measures that are reported to CMS include three indicators or practices for treatment of heart failure and four indicators for heart attack.
