St. Mary's - One of Only 100 Medical Centers in the Nation Performing Laser Lead Removal
St. Mary's is one of only 100 medical centers in the nation offering laser lead removal for pacemakers.
This procedure uses ultraviolet light to free leads from binding scar tissue. A ring of laser energy dissolves the scar tissue into particles that are easily absorbed into the blood stream. This frees the lead from the binding tissue and allows the physician to remove the lead in a controlled fashion.
