Registries & Databases - St. Mary's Reports Quality of Care

St. Mary's participates in all major national registries and databases that monitor and report cardiovascular quality of care.  Data from these registries are shared with hospital, medical and surgical staff to identify opportunities for improvement in clinical practice that will improve the care we provide.

Registries and databases with which we participate include:

Developed in 1997 by the American College of Cardiology (ACC), the National Cardiovascular Data Registry was created as an exploration into strategies for improving cardiovascular care through the use and application of clinical data.

The Diagnostic Catheterization and Percutaneous Coronary Intervention Registry, known as the CathPCI Registry, assesses the characteristics, treatments and outcomes of cardiac disease patients who receive diagnostic catheterization and/or percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) procedures.

This powerful tool captures the data that measure adherence to American Cardiology College/American Hospital Association’s clinical practice guideline recommendations, procedure performance standards and appropriate use criteria for coronary revascularization.

The ICD Registry establishes a national standard for understanding treatment patterns, clinical outcomes, device safety and the overall quality of care provided to implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) patients. As the CMS-mandated registry for hospitals that perform ICD implantation procedures, the ICD Registry plays an important role in determining the association between evidence-based treatment strategies and clinical outcome.

The Society of Thoracic Surgeons Adult Cardiac Surgery Database is the world’s premier clinical registry for cardiac surgery. The Database houses more than 5.5 million surgical records and gathers information from more than 90% of the groups that perform cardiac surgery in the United States.
