What is the DAISY Award?
The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses recognizes the very special work nurses do every day. It was established in memory of J. Patrick Barnes by the DAISY Foundation - an organization for the elimination of diseases attacking the immune system.
Barnes' parents established the foundation in their son's memory because they had experienced firsthand the skills and compassionate care of many nurses. The award is given quarterly to outstanding nurses in more than 315 hospitals across the country.
These nurses consistently demonstrate excellence through their clinical expertise and extraordinary, compassionate care. They are recognized as outstanding role models in our nursing community.
