Childbirth Classes and Education for Moms, Caregivers and Families

Mother and Infant Care
This class covers the basics of caring for mother and baby during the first few weeks after birth. Participants will learn proper techniques for mother self care, infant feeding and bathing, along with other valuable tips for safe, happy parenting. Bring your questions to this one session class. This class is free for moms delivering at St. Mary's.
If you are expecting your first child or if it has been a long while since your last pregnancy, this class is for you! You will learn all about the labor and delivery process and how best to prepare for the birth of your child. Classes will meet for 6 weekday evenings. An intensive 8-hour Saturday class is also available.
A new baby requires lots of attention. This short class offers reassurance to big brothers and sisters who are at least three years of age and helps them prepare for the new addition to the family. The child must be accompanied by an adult.
Breastfeeding - Getting Off to a Good Start
Topics to be covered in this class are: proper techniques, positioning, problem solving, and weaning. This class meets one Saturday a month from 1:00-3:00 pm and one Wednesday evening from 6 - 8 pm. Bring a support person if you would like.
Breastfeeding Support Group - Just for You!
This free support group is for women who are currently breastfeeding or pregnant and considering breastfeeding. The group meets the second Thursday of every month from 1:00 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. in the Sister Mary Stella Classroom on the third floor of the St. Mary's Hospital for Women and Children.
Infant and Child CPR
This is the American Heart Association's CPR for Family and Friends' course and does not involve a written or skills test.
