Outpatient Pulmonary Rehab

Tele:  (812) 485-5230

The Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program at St. Mary's Heart Institute is a multi-disciplinary program for people with chronic lung disease.  Our program combines structured exercise and education to help improve your quality of life. By controlling and reducing the symptoms and complications of pulmonary disease, patients will increase their level of independence and physical capabilities.

Our program was the first in the Tri-State area to become certified by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR) and remains the only certified pulmonary rehabilitation program in the area.  This certification ensures that our program meets essential standards of care and demonstrates our commitment to providing safe, effective, compassionate care.

Our staff has more than 200 years combined experience and includes Advanced Certified Life Support (ACLS) registered nurses and exercise physiologists.  Many of our staff has taken the extra step to become certified in their specialty.  Depending on their role, this includes American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) certification or Cardiac/Vascular Nurse Certification through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).

The program is offered to patients with:
