You Make Me Proud
On December 2, my father was brought into St. Mary's ER via EMT. From the time I sat in the waiting room until dad's death, we received the best care possible, the care that St. Mary's and its employees are known for!
I was very impressed with the way the receptionist in the ER treated me. I was in street clothes and she did not know I am also an employee. When dad arrived me, my sister and my husband were told to go right back. Again the staff was awesome! The nurses, patient care techs, EKG tech, radiology and doctor were all fantasic! I wish I could remember all of their names - Anna is the January Employee of the month and deservingly so!
Dad had emergency surgery that night. At 82 years of age and having just lost his wife, my mother earlier this year, he was scared. There were things he didn't quite understand when the doctors tried to discuss his surgery. They allowed me to be with him to explain, to hold his hand.
After surgery he was taken to STICU. I only wish I could find the words to describe how fantastic the staff of STICU is! In fact I wish I had the words to discribe how fantastic all of my co-workers are! From the staff on my unit to the staff from all areas who would see me there in street clothes and inquire. The hugs, the prayers and the genuine concern all of which make St. Mary's the best place to work and to come to in need.
Dad died so peacefully on December 8th. It was his wish not to have his life prolonged and again the staff at St Mary's helped me to grant dad his last wish. We have the best and most caring spiritual care that I can never say enough great things about! Cheryl Arnold and our harpist Cyndi Bickel helped make our dad's passing beautiful. We had a CD playing of Cyndi's when she had come in and started playing for us. I have experienced death before and nothing as beautiful as this.
Thank you everyone - you truly make me proud to say I AM A ST. MARY'S EMPLOYEE!
