This Hospital Has One Goal - Giving Quality Care
In late September we began our 6 week journey that impacted my family and me.
My granddaughter was taken 7 weeks early by emergency c-section at an Illinois hospital. She was placed on a ventilator and immediately transported to St. Mary's by an awesome NICU transport team.
Two days later my daughter began exhibiting life threatening symptoms and followed her newborn daughter to St. Mary's hospital and was admitted to ICU. Later that same day she, too, was placed on a ventilator.
We spent the next week and a half not knowing if either one would survive. God blessed us with the most awesome, doctors, nurses, respiratory therapist, patient relations representatives and the list goes on and on.
As we entered the front door of St. Mary's, the staff working at the front desk was there to reach out to us, give us direction and help my son and I feel a part of this hospital. To say St. Mary's is a caring place is inadequate. I observed that each separate unit cares and watches out for the other units – working as a comprehensive team.
This hospital has one goal and it is to not only to give quality to care to the patient, but also to go the extra mile and reach out to family members to make them feel a part of the care being given. There are no words to express our love and appreciation to everyone for the level of care provided my daughter and granddaughter. As both have been discharged, healthy and healing, I feel as if I am leaving extended family behind. Yet, the friendships that were made over this long ordeal will always be a part of our hearts. We love each and every one of you and can't begin to thank you enough.
