IU Junior Clerkship Students Start Hands On Training 06/06/2014 On Friday June 6th, seven IU Junior Clerkship students begin skills training at St. Mary’s Medical Center. This is the first time students of this level have trained in Evansville.
They began their orientation today, and they start skills training in the morning. This training will involve starting IV’s, interpreting Arterial Blood Gas readings, practicing Foley insertion and reading an EKG. The training will take place in the skills lab on a medical dummy.
Medical personnel overseeing their training will be on hand for questions and the students are available for interview as well. Skills training is from 9 a.m. - noon and then 1 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. Four of the students are from Evansville, three are from surrounding towns in our region. We are very excited to host the Junior Clerkship students at St. Mary’s Medical Center.
