St. Mary's Diabetic Foot Clinic to hold "Healthy Steps to Healthy Feet" Presentation

(Evansville, IN) – St. Mary’s Diabetic Foot Clinic will hold a FREE “Healthy Steps to Healthy Feet” presentation Wednesday, November 20th at 5:30 p.m. in the St. Mary’s Amphitheatre, located on the lower level of the hospital.

The presentation is open to anyone with diabetes, their families, and caregivers. Certified Wound Therapist Karla Whitaker will address the following topics:

  • How diabetes can affect the feet
  • Proper foot care tips
  • Footwear recommendations
  • Steps that can be taken to prevent foot problems such as nerve damage, foot ulcers, and amputation

According to the American Diabetes Association, 60% of non-traumatic lower limb amputations occur in people with diabetes. More than 25 million children and adults in the United States – 8.3% of the population – have diabetes.
