Market Days will Close with Colon and Lung Cancer Prevention Event 09/13/2012
Market Days 2012 closes on Thursday, September 13th. To mark the final day, St. Mary’s will offer a Colon and Lung Cancer Prevention Event from 9am – 1pm under the blue St. Mary’s tent.
Smoking cessation counselors will be available to help smokers interested in quitting. The first 30 visitors who successfully participate in smoking cessation counseling will receive free nicotine patches provided by St. Mary’s Medical Center Foundation. According to the CDC, lung cancer rates in Indiana and Kentucky remain well above the national average, with Kentucky ranking first in both incidence rates and death rates.
In addition to smoking cessation, there will also be information on reducing your colon cancer risk through nutrition and fitness. Visitors can enter into a drawing for a free colonoscopy, courtesy of Gastroenterology Associates.
St. Mary’s Market Days are held Thursdays from 8:30am – 1pm, along St. Mary’s Blvd. off of Washington Avenue.
