Hope Resource Center
A cancer diagnosis often leads patients and their loved ones on an educational, emotional and spiritual search. That's why the Hope Resource Center was established: to help patients and their families cope with the lifestyle changes that come with this illness. The Resource Center is free and open to the public.
Special programs and services are also offered at the Center.
Knowledge Generates Hope
The Center empowers patients by allowing free access to education and information that will help them make informed choices, such as:
- Medical treatment options
- Consumer-oriented medical guides about cancer
- Diet, nutrition and exercise factors
- Cookbooks about healthy eating during cancer treatment
- Mind/body relationships
- Stories of survival and survivorship issues
- Spirituality
- Work and/or financial issues
- Complementary Therapies , including humor, relaxation, imagery, art therapy and healing energy treatments
- Wellness Weekends and Retreats
- Community Outreach Activities
A Calming Environment
The Center is designed to offer as much comfort, hope and care as education and information. Our "family room," with its abundance of sofas and overstuffed chairs, provides a safe and inviting place to relax and learn. The "study center" has carrels for individual computer work, Internet surfing, research or note-taking. The "relaxation room" provides a quiet, private area for research or reflection while listening to audiotapes, videotapes or possibly receiving a massage or other healing energy treatments. The Hope Resource Center is free and open to the public.
