Adult Mental Health
The Adult Mental Health Unit is located on the third floor of St. Mary’s Rehabilitation Institute Building. Patients may be admitted by Psychiatrists with St. Mary’s admitting privileges. These patients require short-term treatment for an acute phase of a psychiatric illness or for stabilization of an acute episode requiring the safety and security of a Mental Health Unit.
The Interdisciplinary Team include the Psychiatrists, Mental Health Nurses, Psychiatric Advanced Practice Nurses, Mental Health Technicians, Utilization Management Nurses, Senior Therapist, Recreation Therapist, Dietician, Spiritual Care, Hospitalist and OT/PT Services. Alternative therapies such as Pet Therapy also provided. Treatment Modalities include Individual and Group Therapy, Education Therapy, Recreation Therapy, as well as Inpatient and outpatient ECT.
Nurses: Experienced Nursing Staff. Approximately one-half of the Nursing staff has accomplished their AANC Certification in Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing
Adults ages 18 and over.
Referral from Tri-State
Number of Beds: 14
Follow guidelines per. patient volumes.
Ratios may vary depending upon volume and acuity.
8 & 12 hour shifts
8 weeks (2 of those in Hospital General Nursing Orientation); CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) Training required.
