St. Mary's LifeFlight Staff Members Conduct Educational Programs

LifeFlight Offers Safety In-Services

LifeFlight crew members can provide agencies with a LifeFlight Safety in-service, as well as presentations on a variety of medical education topics. For more information, contact LifeFlight at:  (812) 485-7948.

  Safety Tech.  Upon completion, hospital personnel will be able to identify patients that would benefit from air medical transport, prepare the patient for transport, and describe how to identify and set up a safe landing zone.  Above all, participants will be able to identify safe behaviors for working around a helicopter.  This course is recommended for hospital personnel that work with LIfeFlight. 
  Crash Recovery for Pre-hospital Providers.  Designed to provide information regarding air medical accidents, how to respond to this type of disaster, and provide guidance in developing a plan.  This class should be attended by all fire and rescue departments that work with St. Mary's LifeFlight.  EMS and law enforcement personnel are highly encouraged to attend as well.
   Would You Be Prepared If This Happened At Your Facility?  Aimed at educating hospital administration and personnel on the need to prepare a hospital plan on how to deal with a downed helicopter on hospital grounds.  The program discusses hazards that are involved, personnel needed to safety respond, and other key points to add into a hospital disaster response plan for a downed air medical helicopter.
