St. Mary's Hospital for Women and Children offers a Maternal Transport Program for patients being referred to St. Mary's from area hospitals and physicians.  Our goal is to provide the most advanced inpatient care to high risk pregnant women in the tri-state.

The patient's attending physician contacts the St. Mary's Maternal-Fetal Medicine & Genetics Center and provides the patient's information.  After acceptance by the St. Mary's Maternal-Fetal Medicine physician, arrangements are made for the patient to be transported by ambulance or air, depending on the circumstances.

If transported by St. Mary's ambulance service to the Hospital for Women & Children, a paramedic, a respiratory therapist and a labor and delivery nurse will travel with the patient.

Over the past several years since implementing a Maternal-Fetal Medicine program, we have received more than 100 maternal transports annually.
