Maternal Fetal Medicine & Genetics Center at St. Mary's
Making Miracles Happen --
Maybe you have a condition that can result in birth defects or pregnancy loss, or your age indicates to your obstetrician that advanced prenatal tests are required. Some chronic medical conditions, like diabetes and cardiac disease, can make a pregnancy difficult. Or you may be experiencing pregnancy-related conditions, such as preterm labor or hypertension. Perhaps you are pregnant with multiples.
Whatever your condition, our Maternal-Fetal Medicine Physician is dedicated to providing world-class care to the high-risk mother and her unborn child. Through early diagnosis and intervention, we can help bring your baby safely into the world.
Our diagnostic tools can help identify problems before birth, allowing family and physician to be prepared for a possible medical emergency. In case hospitalization is required, St. Mary's offers a pregnancy special care unit within its Hospital for Women & Children - located just one floor above our offices.
Our MFM program provides comprehensive maternal and fetal assessments using leading-edge diagnostic tools and treatments to help determine appropriate care for the mother and her unborn baby. While we do not provide primary obstetrical care except in very high-risk situations, we work in concert with the referring obstetrician-gynecologist (OB/GYN).
Our Genetic Counselor is certified by the American Board of Genetic Counseling and is available to explain your test results.
Our advanced ultrasound equipment is also ideal for diagnosing gynecological problems and developing a treatment plan.
Under the direction of Luissa Kiprono, DO, patients are treated by a warm and caring staff including a Nurse Practitioner, two Registered Nurses, a genetic counselor, registered diagnostic sonographers and a dedicated support staff.
