Clinical Support: Admission Nurse Department
The Admission Nurse Department at St. Mary's was developed primarily to assist floor nurses by completing admission histories on newly admitted patients. Additionally, they provide back up for the Vascular Access Department by starting IV's, assisting with Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters (PICC) and, are trained to assist with difficult urinary catheterizations.
The Admission Nurse provides comfort measures to our patients and help orient them to their new environment. The unique set of skill and specialized knowledge the admission nurses bring to our facility helps us meet the needs of our patients in a manner that is consistent with our CORE values.
- 12 Hour Shifts (7a-7p or 7p-7a)
- A 3-6 week orientation is required for an RN transferring into the department.
