Three and Four-D Ultrasound

Fetal face 4D Ultrasound

Three-dimensional ultrasounds (available at St. Mary's) show images on threeplanes:  transverse, longitudinal and horizontal.  The fourth dimension is time.  The extra information allows doctors to diagnose abnormalities of the growing fetus, such as cleft palate or congenital heart disease.  This additional information prepares the surgeons to operate shortly after birth if need be.  At this point, 4-D tests are reserved only for high-risk pregnancies.

Select one of the buttons on the right to see 4-D ultrasound videos.  (Please allow a little extra time for the videos to load.)
